Verna E. Rasmussen (b. 1953) is an American artist who has been working more or less obscurely for many decades. A number of us who have been fortunate to see her work agreed that it should be exposed to a larger audience.
Rasmussen is basically the textbook example of everything you can do to not be widely known: she did not attend any arts college, being almost entirely self-taught, has not exhibited, does not have an agent and lives far from the normal centers of the art world/industry. Nonetheless we think her work has power, grace, humor and a certain amount of darkness and will present the best photographs we can get of it.
She has grudgingly agreed to cooperate by making available her work for presentation on this blog. Of course it should go without saying that it is all covered by copyright and we hope that you enjoy these posts and images without stealing them.
