A nice shot of Lucy impersonating a "regular" cat

But dainty for all of that

Lucy in the sink

After saying farewell to old Buzz, we decided to take a new cat into the household. After going to the various adoption and shelter agencies, we spotted “Lucy” who looked like a healthy, mellow cat.

The good new is that she is healthy, with a good coat, good hygiene and good appetite, and relatively active. I would guess she’s about 2 – 4 years old.

Unfortunately we have discovered that she is really mentally defective. “Mentally retarded” is really not too strong a description.

I’ve  lived with many cats, and don’t have an unrealistic expectation as to their intelligence or trainability. But this poor thing really didn’t seem to get the oxygen to her brain at birth she should have had…

Being cute and cuddly

Basically, Lucy is “Do something cat”, except she doesn’t do anything.

I’m still trying to figure out how to teach her to respond to her name or any name for that matter.

The names that seem to be getting the best response are “Stewpot”, “Dumptruck”, “Mudflap”, or “Dewlap”. Sort of got a theme going there. “Fur blob” seems to fit as well.
