Verna: “Yes, I’m stil working on a biography for this stupid blog, stop pushing me.
“Meanwhile, Paul Lafolley. I ran across mention of these very reamrkable artists in “The Book of Lies: The Disinformation Guide to Magic and the Occult” (go to a web based booksite and look for ISBN 097139427X). Lafolley is one of those obsessive detail guys whose work you can go over with a magnifying glass for hours. Joe Coleman…well, I can’t describe him very well.
The best source to start with for Lafolley is his Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Laffoley) (with all the usual disclaimers about Wikipedia…).
I thought this guy was very fascinating, and I yearned to see a piece of his work closer to the size he originally created it. A little clip in a book was not near satisfying enough.
At the Kent Gallery (http://kentgallery.com/artibio.htm) you can order a very large poster of either of two of his works, part of the money will go to a catalogue raisonne they are trying to prepare of his work.
I don’t know how accurate Joe Coleman’s Wikipedia article is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Coleman_%28painter%29) but regard it as a start and research him from there.
